The Deep Blue is a hollow form turn from Horse Chestnut Burr.

The Horse Chestnut burr is the ugly piece of tree, where it sends out load of small twigs on a growth on the side of the tree. This is cause by a fungal attack. But what these burrs do for the woodturner that adds colour is something else.

The Horse Chestnut burr as been coloured with many layers of blue and the pattern of the burr does the rest.
