I offer different types of bowl turning course. For the beginner, there is an experience day where you can create your own finished bowl. For the more experienced woodturner we can cover different techniques to create and finish your bowls.

Whether you’re learning to turn a bowl for the first time with a one day experience course or booking a two or three day bowl turning course the possibilities with bowl turning are vast.

The Bowl Turning Course Experience Day: This is a taster into the world of woodturning. You will turn and finish your own bowl.

We will cover:

• Workshop Safety.
• Suitable protective workwear.
• Lathe operation.
• How to mount your piece of wood.
• How to safely produce your bowl.
• Basic tool control.

At the end of the day you will have produced your own bowl.

For The More Experience Turner

• More adventurous techniques and bowl designs.
• Alternative wood mounting methods.
• Wood colouring.
• Wood texturing.

You might want to turn something BIG. I’ve got a VB36 in the workshop so the ceiling is the limit. Let me know if you have a specific goal in mind, we can tailor the course to suit. Price for this is extra to a standard day bowl turning contact for details.

What do you need to bring?

There’s no need for you to bring anything but if you already own your own tools and wish to bring them you’re more than welcome. I’m quite happy to check them over for you and if required we can sharpen them to bring them back into shape.

Food and Refreshments

Refreshments throughout the day and lunch are supplied on all my turning courses. Lunch consists of soup and sandwiches or salad. Please specify any special requirements you may have.

General Info

My turning courses are tailored to your needs. It’s is a good way to start before going out and buying any equipment to take up woodturning. I’m happy to give advice so you buy the correct equipment.

All of my woodturning lessons are one to one because I believe that this is the best way to learn. However, I’m happy to teach two people if you want to bring along someone with you.

Turing courses start at around 10.00 and we stop around 12.30 for lunch. I aim to finish the day around 4.30pm but this can over run a little to get the piece finished. I can be flexible on timing if required.

Bowl Turning Courses Prices

The cost of a One Day Bowl Turning Course is £320.00 for a single person or £375.00 for two people sharing.

You can purchase course gift vouchers if buying for somebody else.
