This has been turned form a piece of Horse Chestnut burr. Size 210mm diameter, height 118mm. Finished with 6 coats of Danish oil and then once dry 2 coats of Mircocrystal wax which gives the piece a lovely shine.

This piece of wood had many woodworm holes so these were filled with gold effect powders which combine well with the rich colour of the wood.

The Horse Chestnut burr was hollowed out once turned and as a wall thickness of between 4 & 6mm the bottom of the piece was left to around 20mm to add weight to the piece and give it stability.
