This Olive Root Bowl has a diameter of 333mm and is 127mm tall and the bowl is 28mm thick. This was turned from a piece of the root ball of an Olive tree the wood is rich in colour with many shades of brown and cream. It also has many voids where the root was in-tangled with the earth in which it had been growing. Turning this type of thing offers a bit of a challenge as the tool skips over the voids, also you are having to deal with the bits that come flying off while the wood is spinning on the lathe. Finished to a smooth surface and given a few coats of Danish oil to enhance the finish.
